What to Expect at an Addictions Recovery Center
While in treatment for substance use disorder, you will engage in a daily schedule of various therapies and classes. These activities are designed to help you make needed changes in behavior patterns.
Treatment elements include:
Receive Guidance, Call Now
Intake. The intake process assists the clinical team in gaining a thorough picture of the person’s specific recovery needs. During intake, the addiction history, medical status, and mental health status are reviewed, which leads to a customized treatment plan.
Medically Managed Detox and Withdrawal. Completing detox and withdrawal is the first challenging step of recovery. To help ease the discomfort of withdrawal, a medical detox team will provide the needed interventions and support.
Individual Psychotherapy. Therapy helps to address the core issues that underlie chemical dependence. Such issues might include past trauma or abuse, grief and loss, mental health, and other factors that drive addiction.
Group Therapy. Engaging with peers in a group counseling setting is very helpful in the recovery process. Group therapy sessions allow the small groups to share their own stories within a safe setting.
Family Therapy. Because addiction impacts everyone in the person’s sphere, family therapy can be very beneficial. Family members or couples can begin to heal as they learn better ways to communicate, manage anger, and resolve conflicts.
